What is Coaching?

Coaching is, at its core, a relationship that empowers you get from where you are to where you want to be. Co-active coaching is based on the beliefs that all of us are naturally creative, resourceful, and whole, and that each of us has the answers within us – they just may need to be unlocked and pulled out in order to put them into action. As people we can spend a lot of times “in our heads”, mulling over a problem and desperately looking for a solution that seems just out of grasp. A coach can help with getting those thoughts turned into feelings – which is often where we’re able to connect more with what we want – and then into action!

Clarity and accountability

People come to coaching for many reasons. They may want more of something – more freedom or fulfilment in their work, more financial stability, more confidence, or they may want less of something – less stress, less extra weight, less living inauthentically where the way they spend their time doesn’t match up with who they really are. Whatever the reason, you want something to change, and up until now, you’ve had trouble making that happen, or sticking to it. Coaching helps get to the heart of who you are, by focusing on and acknowledging your unique talents, values, and wants and needs. Then, as your coach, I help you clarify the goals that will get you where you want to be, give you confidence to remember that you can achieve what you set out to do, and I hold you accountable.

My coaching style

I coach in a confidential, non-judgmental, supportive way; I aim to help you meet your goals however you decide to go for them! My style is first and foremost about serving you. I am empathetic and caring, optimistic and positive, fun and energetic, calm and a good listener. Coaching isn’t about having a nice chat, though.  I also will challenge you to bring your full and authentic self to our time together, and to get rid of old beliefs and stories that may be holding you back, so that you are most easily able to step into the best version of you.

We all get one precious life to live.  If you’d like to make yours more fulfilling, rewarding, and fun, feel free to contact me at meg@meglyons.com to arrange a free sample session to let us see whether we’re a good match in terms of style and chemistry. If we decide to work together, I offer a 3-month (minimum) package of two 1-hour sessions a month, which can be done over the phone or Skype.
